Ideal for hikes in the Zittau Mountains

Explore the Zittau Mountains from our guesthouse.

Our guesthouse, located directly at the foot of the Hochwald (the second-highest mountain in the Zittauer Mountains), between the spa towns of Jonsdorf and Oybin, offers a perfect location for exploring the Zittauer Mountains in all directions. Hiking trails are in close proximity to our pension. Those who love ascent can opt for a hike to the Hochwald. On clear days, there is a panoramic view from the Iser Mountains to the Giant Mountains, the Jeschken in Liberec, across the mountains of the Lusatian Mountains, to the Saxon Switzerland, Northern Bohemia, and even to the eastern Erzgebirge.

For those who prefer an easier route, a comfortable high-altitude hike through the Small and Large Rock Alley of the Potter (an excursion mountain with a mountain hut) is a great choice. The route passes by the Scharfenstein, also known as the Oybin Matterhorn, leading to its summit with a viewing platform. The Potter is considered one of the most beautiful mountains in the Zittauer Mountains, featuring numerous sandstone formations such as the brooding hen, parrot, turtle, Gratzer Caves, Wobble Stone, and more.

From the viewing platform, there is a breathtaking view over Lake Olbersdorf, across the city of Zittau, and far into the surrounding countryside. Comfortable day hikes (round trip) lead to the Lausche Mountain. The pointed volcanic cone, at 793 m, is the highest peak in the Zittauer Mountains.
